PINK CUBE er et rosa kunstrom på Grønland i Oslo. Den unike rosamalingen på veggene inneholder kroppsvæsker og hver eneste utstilling i PINK CUBE er en kunst-battle mellom to kunstnere eller kunstnergrupper.


Morten Kvamme: Doubting the stalkers path
Morten Kvamme (1971) gikk ut fra Kunstakademiet i Bergen i 2003. Han har jobbet som kurator ved Landmark, Bergen Kunsthall og er i dag tilknyttet TagTeamStudio i Bergen. Kvamme arbeider med skulpturer og installasjoner som gjennom ulik materialbruk og teknikk forsøker å knekke gitte koder og belyse obskure referanser. Arbeidene kretser ofte rundt konflikter som vitenskap og åndelighet eller fornuft og emosjon. I prosjektet 37 grader celsius undersøkte han menneskets kroppstemperatur som romlig fenomen. Verket Just if you love me (2004) med 72 oppblåsbare og fallende falloser, står sterkt i minne hos mange – på godt og vondt. I senere tid har arbeidene hans utviklet seg mot renere, formale undersøkelser, men man kan fortsatt ane undertoner av Science fiction og dystopisk stemning.

I PINK CUBE viser Kvamme installasjonen Doubting the stalkers path – en tilretteleggelse for overskridelsen, i meget sanselig form.


Tammo Rist: When the going gets tough, the wimps disappear.
Tammo Rist (1976) tok sin utdannelse ved Universität der Künste, Berlin og er nå basert i Oslo. Arbeidene hans spenner over mange ulike medier og strategier. Fryktelig lange skulpturer og 3Dfotografier er gjengangere, foruten prosjektet The First Transnational Republic som ble grunnlagt i München 2001 og etterhvert er representert i både Brussel, Berlin, Sydney og Oslo. Han har blant annet stilt ut på Veneziabiennalen (2003), Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Kunsthalle Hamburg og Palais de Tokyo. I det siste har det gått rykter om hans familiære bånd til den sveitsiske kunstneren Pipilotti Rist.

I denne utstillingen tar Rist tak i begrepet trussel som han utforsker gjennom ulike teknikker: som fiksjon i skulpturen Last Chance 69, som reell trussel i eksploderende malerier og gjennom medfølelse i et videoverk som formidler en tragisk hverdagshistorie. Skulpturen er et samarbeid med Carl Fredrik Berg og Tommi Damstuen (Dromedar). Denne flukt-maskinen, som kan leses som en mulig utvei, utfordrer Kvammes dystopiske tematikk. I maleriene fra serien Explosion drawings, finner vi dessuten en påfallende referanse til Kvammes tidligere nevnte arbeid. Her er det eksploderende kondomer som fordeler maling på lerretet. Tittelen på videoverket er The Ring – let the battle begin!

In PINK CUBE there’s always at least two things happening at the same time and there’s always some magic going on. For the 6th battle Hanne Maren Meldahl arrives from Stavanger with the show Enterobiasis that will collide with Sebastian Makonnen Kjølaa’s show Sleipner from the plant above.


Enterobiasis
Hanne Maren Meldahl (1982) studied at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts (KUVA), Helsinki. Besides her art activity she’s a bass player and vocalist in Scampi, Chips, Dip & Campari, based in Bergen. Enterobiasis consists of video, drawing/installation and the potential death of a very small and apparently, unimportant creature.

Hugot (1983) claims there is another species affecting humans, Enterobius gregorii, which is supposedly a sister species of E. Vermicularis, and has a slightly smaller spicule (i.e., sexual organ).

My head is yours, my heart is dancing.
Stop talking, this is super fantastic.
(All I want to do do do is dance)

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee
blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God
pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death

Sebastian Makonnen Kjølaas (1985) was one of the initiators behind GAGO (Galleri Godteri) and is now in the board of the artist run gallery SALT (Saltrelli Salong) in Oslo. Kjølaa’s recent exhibitions includes Show Me Your Chakra at Utrophia Project Space/London, Show Me Your Naked Young Girl With Tattoo We Also Have One Dress at Sound of Mu/Oslo and Døden på UKS. In PINK CUBE he will show text-object, drawing, photography and eatable sculptures, from familiar but somehow unknown times in this country.

Hvordan gikk det nå egentlig med Brundtland barna? Harlem barna?
Det er typisk norsk å være best, fikk vi høre, mens Loke lurte pilen inn i Balder.
